Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Coffee Shop Assistant Manager at Ori Caffe within the John Lewis Store to oversee daily operations and ensure exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, managing food and beverage preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hospitality. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in food service, culinary arts, or hospitality to progress into a leadership position within a vibrant coffee shop environment.

Duties

Oversee daily coffee shop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality service Supervise and motivate team members, including baristas and kitchen staff, to deliver excellent customer experiences Manage food preparation, cooking, and food production processes in line with health and safety standards Assist with the training and development of staff to enhance their skills in serving, food safety, and culinary techniques Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness throughout the premises Handle customer queries and resolve issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment of ingredients and supplies Assist in menu planning and development to meet customer preferences and seasonal trends Support marketing initiatives to promote the coffee shop within the local community

Skills

Proven experience in supervising or managing teams within a restaurant, cafe, or hospitality setting Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking, and food safety standards Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff and foster teamwork Previous experience in hospitality or hotel environments is advantageous Skilled in food service operations including serving, barista duties, and kitchen management Organised with good time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently Knowledge of health & safety regulations relevant to food production environments Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail Exceptional communication skills with a friendly approach towards customers and team members

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to 14.00 per hour
