Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our vibrant team Ori Caffe Reading with in the John Lewis Store . The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing a variety of beverages and food items, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere within our establishment. Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is advantageous, particularly barista experience and food safety knowledge. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a dynamic environment dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing friendly and professional service at all times Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks Assist with food preparation tasks, ensuring all items meet hygiene standards and presentation requirements Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in accordance with food safety regulations Handle cash transactions and operate the till system securely Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations Provide catering support during events or special occasions as required Uphold high standards of hospitality by creating a warm and welcoming environment for all customers

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred; restaurant or barista experience is highly desirable Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively during busy periods Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and holidays if required A genuine interest in delivering exceptional customer service and creating positive experiences for guests
