We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our new team at Ori Caffe with the John Lewis Store Southampton. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and have a keen interest in hospitality and food preparation. This role offers an opportunity to work in a vibrant environment, providing high-quality beverages and food items to our valued customers. Previous experience in catering, serving, or restaurant settings is advantageous, especially barista experience and knowledge of food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including speciality coffees and teas Assist customers with their orders in a courteous and professional manner Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter, seating area, and kitchen workspace Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations Provide excellent customer service by addressing enquiries and resolving any issues promptly Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality roles is preferred Barista experience is highly desirable Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures Strong communication skills with a friendly demeanour Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required A proactive attitude towards maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the workspace A genuine interest in food preparation and customer service
