Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) oversees transportation in Greater Manchester and through the multi-agency Partnership Safer Roads Greater Manchester (SRGM) we are committed to reducing the number of deaths and injuries on Greater Manchester's roads. The Partnership carries out analysis, campaigns and other activities to promote awareness of specific road safety issues and to improve safety across Greater Manchester.

Your Role

As a Collision Investigation Officer you will be carrying out Road Safety Audits for internal/external clients and identify future strategies. You will have experience in Collision Investigation and Road Safety Engineering and provide specialist collision prevention and intervention advice and dissemination of best practice and provide support for the safety camera operation.


You will be expected to be proactively involved in continual professional development and training plans. This role will also provide you with an opportunity to work with a forward thinking organisation which is pushing the barriers to transform lives and the economy of Greater Manchester.

This is a challenging environment where you will be supporting the Safer Roads Greater Manchester Partnership in the delivery of data analysis; data visualisation; production of intelligence; hotspot and root cause studies. You will be expected to objectively analyse a wide range of often complex data sources, produce and present succinct summaries, and embrace collaborative working with Greater Manchester stakeholders. To be successful candidates will have:

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or the equivalent qualification 10 days or more formal collision investigation/Road safety engineering training Membership of a relevant professional institution e.g. Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT); Institute of Highways Engineers (IHE) etc. Member Member or Fellow Experience in Collision Investigation & Prevention; RSA; & Safer Roads Engineering.

Experience of data analysis & risk modelling using various software inc. spreadsheets; databases; GIS to produce visualisations software & intelligence.

Knowledge & understanding of relevant specific legislation and standards.

This is a permanent opportunity with a salary of

40,650 - 45,107

per annum dependent of experience.
