Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated COMAH & Resilience Advisor to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring the safety, resilience, and regulatory compliance of our operations concerning Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH). The successful candidate will play a vital part in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety strategies, as well as supporting organisational resilience through effective risk management and emergency preparedness. Duties

Develop, review, and maintain COMAH safety reports and documentation in line with current regulations. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and root cause analyses following incidents or near-misses to identify underlying issues. Lead and facilitate emergency response planning, including the organisation of drills and training exercises. Provide expert advice on safety measures related to hazardous substances and processes to management and operational teams. Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices. Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incident investigations, and resilience strategies for senior management. Support the organisation in maintaining a high level of safety culture through training programmes and awareness campaigns. Assist in the development of contingency plans to enhance organisational resilience against potential major incidents.

Skills

Proven experience in safety management within environments subject to COMAH regulations or similar hazardous industries. First aid certification is highly desirable, with the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations. Strong report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation. Expertise in root cause analysis techniques to investigate incidents thoroughly and implement corrective actions. Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Effective communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. A proactive approach towards continuous improvement in safety practices and organisational resilience.
