Here at Berns Brett (part of the Jensten Group), we are looking to recruit a motivated Account Handler, (ideally with a General Insurance Commercial background) to join our friendly and Client focused team.
Reporting to the Operations Director and working in the close-knit SME client focus team, you will be based at our South Woodford office, which is in easy walking distance from the station and bus routes.
Berns Brett is well known for its focus on servicing mid-market corporate clients across multiple sectors. The business advises clients on SME to large and complex risks, which it can place into Lloyd's via its London Market team. The business also has a specialist private clients division with dedicated propositions for high-net-worth individuals and sports professionals.
The main purpose of the Commercial Account Handler role is to manage Insurance renewals, working with clients to assess risks and claims history- and using market knowledge and expertise, to put forward the right products and services. You will be delivering extraordinary client service to drive retention and new business, working within our commercial strategy and compliance framework.

Key objectives & responsibilities will include:

Handling Commercial SME renewals, mid-term adjustments and new business by assessing the risk and claims information held on file, taking additional information from clients and liaising with Insurers Putting forward renewal quotations to customers in a timely manner and chasing for instructions with the view of achieving optimum profitable renewal retention rate and growth within the set timescales Develop effective relationships with clients, and effectively analyse client needs and develop solutions via the phone and email Respond promptly to client queries and ensure that all communications with customers and/or Insurers or other business contacts are accurately recorded Processing insurance documents and invoicing To ensure compliance with local procedures, customer service standards and external compliance regulations, e.g. FCA.

About you


As one of our Commercial Account Handlers, you'll ideally have previous commercial insurance experience, have excellent communication and written skills with a keen eye for detail. You'll also be client focused and eager to deliver a high-quality broking service.
You will be the type of person who wants to constantly develop, and you can expect fantastic career progression, training & development within the role and Insurance Industry in general.

You will also have:

Relevant qualifications (e.g Cert CII) or working towards/ willingness (ideally) Experience of using Acturis (advantageous) Excellent telephone manner and be able to build working relationships easily Drive and passion to learn and develop within Insurance The ability to use your initiative and multi-task
