Job Description

Bloomsbury is seeking an enthusiastic, and highly organized Commercial Analyst with attention to detail. This FTC position will play a key role in the supporting the Senior Commercial Analyst with on-going project work and more broadly in providing insight and data for the Academic & Professional Division as required.
This role will support on-going project work to gather, analyse and interpret internal and external data, working closely with senior colleagues in the A&P division. In addition the role will support the Senior Commercial Analyst in providing data and insight to the business to enable informed decisions and maximise revenue opportunities. This role will have the opportunity of working closely with senior sales, marketing, and editorial colleagues, providing data-led insight communicated effectively to maximise business understanding.
The role would suit someone who shares our passion for learning, whilst also being a proactive, committed individual comfortable working with both data and people in equal measure.
The role

  • Support on-going project work by managing and updating large datasets with a high level of accuracy and communicating progress clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for analysing data strategically, creating meaningful reports and dashboards and conducting in depth data analysis to address critical business queries
  • Ability to transform raw data into actionable information that can support our business queries with data driven answers and compelling narratives.
  • Collect and analyse sales data across formats, regions, categories
  • Define, track and report on KPI's determined in consultation with management
  • Proven ability to build relationships (both virtually and in person) and manage stakeholders within a matrix business.
  • Ad hoc analysis and projects across the Division.
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Pro-active, self-starter with mature and organised approach, able to work independently.
  • Experience in book publishing is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to bring numbers alive to non-finance staff.
  • Numerate and strong on detail.
  • Confident to challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced excel sills (IF statements, vlookups, pivot tables, sumifs).
Additional information
The role is a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract position to start as soon as possible.
Salary: 36,000- 42,500 per annum
The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days are Wednesdays/Thursdays.
