The Property Franchise Group PLC (TPFG) is looking for a Financial Services and Commercial Lawyer for its growing legal team. This position reports into the Group Legal Director and Company Secretary. A significant part of this role will be supporting TPFG's financial services division so financial services experience, either in-house or in private practice, is essential
TPFG is the UK's largest multi-brand property franchisor, with a network of over 1,946 outlets delivering high quality services to residential clients, combined with an established financial services business. TPFG entered in the AIM 100 IN July 2024.
The Company was founded in 1986 and has since strategically grown to a diverse portfolio of 18 brands operating throughout the UK, comprising longstanding high-street focused brands and two hybrid brands. TPFG is also a member of two leading mortgage networks through its mortgage brokers, Brook Financial (MAB) and The Mortgage Genie (Primis).
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Services:
Drafting, reviewing and updating contracts between Brook Financial and self-employed mortgage and life insurance product advisors and business partners to ensure compliance with the FCA regime and to reflect changes in the commercial terms.
Managing the legal aspects of the relationships with the owners of the mortgage networks.
Advising on disputes and disagreements with self-employed advisors and business partners.
2. Commercial and Franchising:
Drafting, reviewing and updating commercial contracts.
Producing and developing precedents to assist the negotiation of contracts which often involve supplies to the franchised/licensed network.
Reviewing and updating the franchise/licence agreements and associated documents to ensure compliance with changes in the law and changes in commercial terms impacting all franchisees/licensees.
Advising on the renewal of franchise agreements.
Advising on breaches of franchise/licence agreements, preparing documentation and supporting resolution.
Advising on disputes and disagreements with franchisees/licensees.
3. Company Secretary:
Assisting with company secretarial matters including the preparation and submission of regulatory filings to Companies House.
Qualifications/ Requirements
Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 2-3 year of post qualification experience.
Financial services experience essential. Experience of working in a franchised business is highly regarded.
Strong communicator
Demonstrable experience of negotiating commercial agreements.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Detailed and analytical approach.
A positive "can do" attitude and a supportive team player.
Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
Location
The Old Courthouse, 60a London Road, Grantham, NG31 6HR. Hybrid working available three days in the office / two from home.
The Package
Salary up to 75,000 per annum depending on experience.
