About this opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Commercial Controller to join Crown in any of our UK locations: Wantage, Botcherby, or Peterborough, reporting directly to the Finance Manager for the UK.
The Commercial Controller is a varied role that supports the UK commercial team per the Swiss Principal business model at Crown which we also follow in other European countries.
This is an excellent opportunity for an independent individual who has strong attention to detail, good analytical skills and is highly organised.
To be an effective Commercial Controller at Crown you will need a good understanding of UK finance processes including income statement, balance sheet reconciliations, source of change, margin analysis etc. Some experience is required but you do not need to be a qualified accountant to be effective in this role.
Main responsibilities:
Guarantee the accuracy of sales and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) data for Commercial Reporting
Liaise with the Commercial Team on sales prices, contracts, rebate accruals, and LME (London Metal Exchange)/MP reconciliations
Ensure that packaging held at customers is reconciled monthly and any identified losses are recovered
Liaise with the Shared Service Centre (SSC) to ensure credit limits are respected, and payments and overdue(s) are properly followed up
Finalise monthly reports, budgets, and forecasts for UK Commercial Entities
Required education and qualifications
:
University bachelor's degree in accounting / finance control, or similar
Required knowledge and experience:
Relevant work experience and a good working knowledge of Commercial Finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Previous experience in preparing budgets and forecasts, analysing variances against forecasts, and report writing for management
Work experience in SAP integrated software
Required skills and competencies:
Data-driven, with an ability to perform variable, fixed costs, and margin analysis
Effective communication at all levels along with good presentation skills
Approaching tasks logically with effective decision-making and problem-solving ability
Autonomous with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively
Flexible and adaptable to change
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to set up macros
Commercially aware
Good attention to detail
Continuous improvement mindset
Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Additional European language will be a plus
