Commercial Coordinator Engineering



As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Commercial Coordinator to join our Building & Real Estate Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.


The Commercial Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the commercial, operational and financial performance of the Engineering division. Working closely with technical teams, commercial leads and business unit directors, this role focuses on project coordination, commercial administration, bids support, and process improvement to help drive efficiency, margin improvement and client satisfaction. The role will primarily support Structures and Building Safety Consultancy, with involvement across fire, facades and multi-disciplinary projects as needed.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to)



Commercial Management & Project Work & Coordination



Support the management of commercial aspects for key engineering projects Take responsibility for commercial administration including invoicing, budget tracking, variations, fee proposals, and progress reporting Coordination between technical teams and commercial leads to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient project delivery Monitor revenue performance and contribute to achieving revenue uplift targets Support implementation of measures to improve project utilisation, efficiency, and margins Undertake engineering (including structural and geotechnical) project work as required, including site inspections, design, calculations and reporting

Bids and Framework Support



Assist with the coordination and preparation of bids, tenders, and framework submissions for engineering services Work with technical teams to compile commercial information, project examples and CVs Ensure submissions are compliant, high-quality, and delivered on time Contribute to the implementation of division-wide fee uplift initiatives (e.g. PI uplifts, urgent turnaround fees, limited resource fees)

Commercial Administration & Issue Resolution



Undertake commercial reviews of contracts and associated appointment documentation Support contract management processes, including variations, extensions, cancellations and invoicing queries Liaise with clients during bids and live projects to resolve commercial or administrative issues (with senior approval as needed) Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation Support management of commercial disputes with clients under guidance from senior commercial leads

Process & Efficiency Improvement



Identify and implement operational improvements to reduce time spent by technical teams on admin and commercial tasks Support multi-disciplinary coordination across Structures, Fire, Facades and Building Safety Consultancy Contribute to the standardisation of commercial procedures and templates across business units

Stakeholder & Client Engagement



Build effective working relationships with internal teams including engineering, finance, and project management Develop professional relationships with key clients to support project delivery and commercial coordination Provide responsive, solutions-focused communication to both internal and external stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate



Qualifications & Experience



Degree or master's in engineering, Architecture, or equivalent Construction Related Experience required (including, consultancy, engineering, QS, bids, project management, commercial) Ideally experience (2+ years) in a commercial, sales, or financial role Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills Proficient in MS Office and business management software (e.g., CRM, ERP) Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills Good comprehension skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive mindset Excellent time management and multitasking skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

About Structural Engineering


Our team specialises in analysing, designing and ensuring the safety and stability of structures such as buildings, bridges, dams, and towers. Our main responsibility is to ensure that these structures can withstand various forces and weather conditions over their intended life span. In addition to Structural Engineering, our Building & Real Estate division provides many other important services including Fire Engineering, Sustainability, and Building Control services.
