The Opportunity
We are looking for a Commercial Estimator to join our team. This is a key role in which you'll create and issue quotations for our sales teams and clients. You will collaborate with internal departments and suppliers to ensure that all quotations are accurate, cost-effective, and delivered promptly. You'll also act as the main internal contact for pricing and commercial queries.
Key Responsibilities
Create and issue accurate, profitable, and timely quotations
Serve as the main internal contact for customer pricing and commercial enquiries
Make informed commercial pricing decisions
Liaise with external suppliers to source materials and obtain pricing
Select the most cost-effective suppliers and materials to maintain a competitive advantage
Ensure customer orders are processed promptly and in line with quality standards and accreditations (e.g. FSC)
Monitor changes in cost and production efficiency, adjusting pricing accordingly
Collaborate with sales teams to follow up on quotations and improve conversion rates
Support internal teams with prioritised project work, including tenders
Provide commercial reporting and support across departments
Perform general administrative duties as required
Skills and Experience Required
Previous experience in a commercial estimating role within the packaging industry is essential
Excellent communication skills and confidence interacting with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, structured environment
Good understanding of the packaging industry and market trends
Knowledge of Abaca / Packaging 3000 is desirable but not essential
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Familiarity with timber, foam, and corrugated packaging materials is beneficial
Technical packaging knowledge is advantageous
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload, set priorities, and meet deadlines
