Job Description

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.



Managing a large team of commercial professionals, you will be accountable to the Programme Commercial Manager. This role will be hybrid and require attendance in the Peterborough Office 2-3 days per week.

Qualifications


Essential

Thorough understanding of NEC3 forms of contract Working in a complex matrix team environment Thorough understanding of relevant construction and contract law Full UK driving licence

Desirable

Full Membership of RICS or CICES. Relevant degree in construction or commercial management May also be a member of other professional bodies or hold additional qualifications.

Provide commercial support to stakeholders including ensuring alliance member internal reporting needs are satisfied Create and own appropriate commercial forums with stakeholders to ensure prudent commercial management and compliance with the governance of the embedded alliance Ensure the contractual compliance of the embedded alliance and its Tier 2 contracts Ensure the embedded alliance is provided with accurate cost and value reporting and forecasting to mitigate adverse financial impacts Ensure effective cost capture ensuring all costs are allocated appropriately Ensure costs are appropriately transferred between Business streams and embedded alliances where necessary Providing transparent, accurate and timely commercial reporting Adherence to the embedded alliance internal governance to satisfy contractual and legal requirements Constantly striving to embed best commercial management practices Lead the identification of cost reduction opportunities and provide support to help stakeholders realise them Support the development and embedding of alliance business plans and business lead efficiency initiatives Continuously review commercial processes to identify and implement changes to increase their efficiency and effectiveness Produce cost estimates were necessary Identifying and proactively managing financial and commercial risk Fostering close working relationships with all key stakeholders Engendering a culture of commercial challenge Controlling costs, maximising value and minimising future liabilities Ensure compliance with agreed commercial processes and procedures Ensure consistency of commercial systems, processes, documentation and procedures across all sub teams and where appropriate between AW alliances Ensure all team members are appropriately trained and competent Conduct formal and informal performance reviews of peers and team and take appropriate action to address any issues

Knowledge, Skills and Experience



Essential

Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen. Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working. A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving. Extensive experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution. Extensive experience of technical minute taking at contractual meetings and able to demonstrate the ability to collate information, prepare reports, payment certificates and interim financial reports and closeout reports. Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutions. Experience of developing & implementing procurement and contract strategies. Proven negotiating and team-working skills demonstrating the ability to motivate, develop and lead teams to deliver to or above target levels of performance. Strong analytical skills. Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience. Experience in implementing and delivering strategic objectives and associated change programmes. Confidence and ability to assert influence The ability to constantly improve and evolve as a commercial leader, taking account of and enabling our company's corporate strategy.

Desirable

* Vast amount of post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievement (but not essential)
