At Balfour Beatty, we shape the infrastructure that underpins daily life across the UK. Within our Asset & Technology Solutions (BBATS) business, we are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Fleet & Support Services team.



This is a high-profile role where you will play a pivotal part in driving commercial and financial success across a 40-45m business area.



You will mainly be based at the Balfour Beatty offices based in Derby (Hybrid - WFH) with travel to other UK based sites based on business needs so flexibility to travel is essential.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities





As Commercial Manager, you will lead on the commercial management of a diverse portfolio of assets and services - including modular accommodation, temporary site services, digital & survey equipment hire, and mobilisation hub services. Your role will span the full commercial lifecycle, from business case development and contract negotiation through to delivery, cash management, and asset disposal.



Key responsibilities will include:




Driving commercial strategy and financial performance across Fleet & Support Services. Developing, presenting, and owning robust business cases and investment models. Negotiating and managing contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Leading risk and opportunity management, supply chain engagement, and commercial reporting. Supporting senior management reviews, preparing business unit packs, and presenting at SLT level. Leading, mentoring, and developing a commercial team.


Who we're looking for



We're seeking a commercially astute leader with:


NEC 4 contract experience preferred Asset Management experience desirable Strong background in asset management, professional services, subcontracting, or plant hire. Proven track record of owning P&L, cash flow, and balance sheets. Ability to undertake full commercial contract reviews and negotiate terms (CPA, NEC, JCT). Experience in asset financing models (capital, operating lease, hire purchase). Excellent leadership, negotiation, and client liaison skills - with a collaborative and ethical approach. Commercial awareness within the construction or infrastructure sector.
