Role Overview
As a Commercial Manager, reporting directly into the Commercial Director you will be working on a portfolio of projects at various stages from tender to aftercare ensuring that commercial governance is adhered to, ensuring commercial risks and opportunities are managed and that the projects commercial outcomes are met. This will involve working closely with the Project Director to assist decision making and also managing teams of project QS's over one or multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Ensure that project commercial teams meet key business and contractual deadlines
Support, validate and advise Project Directors in the signing off of the project Cost Value Report (CVR)
Support and advise Project Directors with regards to decision making
Ensure that company governance with regards to commercial matters is always adhered to
Ensure that the company commercial processes are followed
Ensure that projects strictly adhere to the terms of the agreed contract
Ensure that sub-contractors and suppliers are managed in accordance with their contractual agreement/obligations and also within the company ethos
Ensure that the business is protected from claims both upstream (client) and downstream (supply chain)
Ensure the maximisation of project opportunities and minimisation of project risk
Support and line manage a team of project QS's
Spend a minimum of 3 days in a Dalkia or project office in a typical week
Assist the Commercial Director in key business tasks/projects from time to time as required
Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience
Essential:
A proven track record in a responsible commercial role with demonstrable success in managing projects and people to a successful outcome
Experience in the management of typical construction contracts (i.e. NEC (4) and/or JCT)
Experience of main contracting on projects in excess of c10m
Experience of managing teams and developing talent
A proactive approach with determination to succeed and a positive attitude that aligns with Dalkia's core values
IT literacy in the Microsoft suite of software (Excel, Word etc.)
Excellent communication skills
Strong analytical and evaluation skills
Desirable:
Proven experience in a Commercial Manager role
A degree in a related subject and/or a chartership
A working knowledge of both general building and M&E construction techniques
Experience in the sustainability/energy retrofit sector
Experience in working across multiple projects at one time
