Job Description

We're looking for a Commercial Manager to join our Highways Authority team based in Brixworth, West Northamptonshire. In this role you'll play a vital role in our Highways team managing commercial aspects of major infrastructure projects valued between 1m - 15m. This collaborative role balances financial oversight with relationship building, offering an opportunity to make a real difference to community infrastructure.

Location:

Brixworth, West Northamptonshire - travel to the office required at least 3 days per week

Hours:

40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Salary:

85,000 - 95,000 per year + 25% bonus + 7,350 annual car allowance + private healthcare + excellent benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Commercial Manager, you'll be working with local authorities across the Midlands, ensuring project delivery is both cost-effective and compliant with NEC terms and conditions. Your day to day will include:


Managing the commercial performance of major projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations Monitoring project costs and financial risks, providing transparent reporting to stakeholders Building relationships with local authority clients to ensure service delivery meets expectations Leading a team of quantity surveyors to deliver accurate measurement and valuation of works Working collaboratively with procurement teams to negotiate favourable terms with supply chain partners

What are we looking for?

This role of Commercial Manager is great if you:


Hold a Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline Bring experience in a commercial role within highways or infrastructure, ideally within a local authority setting Possess strong knowledge of NEC contracts and be confident in managing contractual obligations Demonstrate strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets effectively
