Robinsons is a family-run manufacturing and construction business, working throughout the UK on Industrial and Agricultural projects. Robinsons' Head Office is based in Lockerbie, with an additional office in Cheshire. We are currently undergoing a period of growth through our commercial & industrial team, with the acquisition of a new fabrication facility in Warrington and some seasoned hires from Tier 1 contractors and sub-contractors, a new estimator is now required to support the increased workload and win projects for the contracts team to deliver.

JOB OVERVIEW



We are seeking to recruit a detail-oriented and result driven Sales Estimator to join our team. This role is crucial in preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting the sales team, and contributing to business growth. You will assess project requirements, create competitive pricing strategies, and assist in securing new contracts by offering clients detailed cost breakdowns and technical guidance.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



The key duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Develop precise cost estimates and tender returns for steel-framed building and cladding projects, considering materials, labour, and other associated costs. Communicate with clients to discuss project details, address enquiries, and propose value engineering opportunities. Maintain organised records of estimates, quotes, and project costs for future reference. Issue handover paperwork to allow the relevant departments within the company to gain a full understanding of each individual project. Communicate with internal divisions and departments to ensure work us carried out as quoted. Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure competitiveness in estimates. Liaise with both private clients and main contractors, answering tender queries, technical questions while building rapport to develop strategic relationships.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Technically minded and able to liaise with engineers, project managers, site managers and quantity surveyors. Knowledge of the UK's Structural Steel construction market (desirable). Industry contacts and leads for future opportunities (desirable). Competent on excel and take-off software. Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills. Communicate well within a team and is driven to work independently. Excellent numeracy skills. Willing to learn and undertake training where required. Previous experience within a similar position is desirable however, training will be provided.
