Copperwaite Fleet Management is a well-established and reputable Commercial Vehicle Workshop, dedicated to providing top-quality maintenance and repair services to our clients. Due to expansion we are now looking for a skilled and reliable Commercial Vehicle Workshop Handy Person / HGV Driver to join our team and support the smooth operation of our workshop.
The Role
As a Commercial Vehicle Workshop Handy Person / HGV Driver, you will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and cleanliness of our workshop. You will work closely with our technicians, ensuring that the workshop is well-organized, tools and equipment are in good condition, and health and safety standards are upheld. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive attitude and a strong work ethic. You will also be required to drive all classes of HGV vehicle either on site or on the road. Therefore a Class 1 HGV licence is a must (Class 2 maybe considered should the applicant excel in other areas).
This role may suit a Heavy or Light Vehicle Technician or a HGV driver that has semi retired, retired or is approaching retirement.
Key Responsibilities
General maintenance and upkeep of the workshop, including cleaning and organising work and parts areas.
Organising and ordering stock parts on an as and when required basis.
Assisting technicians with basic tasks, such as moving parts, tools, and equipment.
Performing minor repairs and maintenance on workshop equipment and facilities.
Ensuring tools and equipment are stored correctly and are in good working order.
Supporting the team with the movement and positioning of commercial vehicles within the workshop.
Road testing customer vehicles.
Collecting customer vehicles.
Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Carrying out other ad-hoc duties as required to support the whole workshop team.
Helping to support the smooth operation of our busy commercial vehicle MOT test lanes when required.
Requirements
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a workshop or garage environment.
Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and workshop operations.
Physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting and manual tasks when required.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Experience with driving HGV vehicles.
A valid UK driver's licence is required.
A LGV 1 or LGV 2 licence is essential.
A Fork Lift Truck licence is preferred but not essential.
