The Stonemasons Inn, Petworth is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our friendly and supportive kitchen team.
As a busy, food-led pub, this is a hands-on role working alongside the Sous Chef and Head Chef, supporting the preparation and service of consistently high-quality dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients across lunch and dinner service.
Hours & Working Pattern: 45-48 hours per week
5 days out of 7, including weekends on a rota basis
Split shifts required
Typical working hours: 12:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 10:00pm, aligned with lunch and dinner service
Rotas planned in advance and managed fairly
Salary24,000 - 28,000 per annum
Salary contract, dependent on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with food preparation and mise en place
Supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef during service
Helping with cleaning and maintaining kitchen organisation
Completing daily cleaning duties and kitchen checklists
Ensuring food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards are followed
Assisting with deliveries and stock rotation
Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen and carrying out all reasonable duties required during service and prep
The Ideal CandidatePrevious kitchen experience preferred, but not essential
Comfortable working split shifts aligned to service times
Reliable, hard-working and keen to learn
Able to work well under direction and as part of a team
Positive attitude and good timekeeping
