Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. The Commis will support senior chefs in daily kitchen activities, ensuring smooth service and adherence to food safety standards.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes according to established recipes and standards Support the senior kitchen team in food presentation and plating Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to hygiene regulations Follow all food safety procedures and ensure compliance with health and safety standards Assist with stock rotation, inventory management, and storage of ingredients Supervise junior staff when required, providing guidance and support in food preparation tasks Contribute to maintaining a positive team environment through effective communication and teamwork Participate in ongoing training programmes to enhance culinary skills and knowledge

Qualifications

Previous experience in food production, kitchen operations, or hospitality is preferred Demonstrable culinary experience with knowledge of food safety standards Supervising experience or team management skills are advantageous Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and restaurant procedures Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to teamwork and problem-solving Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in a professional kitchen environment Prior experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is desirable but not essential
