Role Overview:

We are looking for a passionate and reliable Commis Chef to join our kitchen brigade. As a Commis Chef, you will play a foundational role in food preparation and service, working under the guidance of Senior Chefs to ensure consistency and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in food preparation and cooking according to recipes and brand standards Ensure your station is well-stocked, organised, and ready for service, contributing to smooth kitchen operations. Ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed Work closely with Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Maintain cleanliness and organisation in your section, adhering to food hygiene standards (HACCP). Monitor stock rotation and reduce food waste in line with company sustainability targets. Assist with deliveries, storage and kitchen opening/closing procedures. Ensure compliance with all health & safety and food safety legislation. Support the kitchen team with dishwashing and deep cleaning as needed

Requirements

Previous kitchen experience is essential, preferably within a restaurant or hospitality setting. A relevant food or hospitality qualification is desirable. Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety (Level 2 Food Hygiene minimum). Strong communication and organisational skills. A team player with a positive, "hands-on" attitude. Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen. Flexibility to work across shifts including early mornings, weekends and bank holidays.

Working Conditions

Standing for long periods and handling hot equipment and sharp tools. The role involves early starts, late finishes, weekends, and bank holidays, based on a rota system to meet the needs of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and occasional events. You will be expected to work as part of a small but dynamic team, sometimes under pressure during peak service times. Uniform and meals on duty are provided. The kitchen follows strict hygiene and health & safety standards, and adherence is mandatory at all times.
