The Pantry are an award-winning contract catering company based in the UK, known for it's contract catering in education services, private events and commercial settings. This exciting role is to support our catering services in one of our commercial settings - The Hogarth Club.
The Role:
The Commis Chef plays a key role in supporting the Chef and Demi Chef de Partie during service. This position includes preparing ingredients, cooking basic items, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring smooth, efficient service in a health-focused hospitality setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of nutritious, high-quality dishes.
Follow recipes, portion controls, and dietary guidelines (including allergens and special diets).
Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment in line with food safety standards (HACCP/Health & Safety).
Assist the Chef and Demi Chef de Partie in the running of service, ensuring dishes are prepared and sent out efficiently and consistently.
Ensure all food items are properly stored, labelled, and rotated.
Support the team during service to ensure timely, smooth food delivery.
Assist with receiving and checking deliveries.
Uphold the club's high standards for hygiene, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with chefs to develop skills and contribute ideas for seasonal and health-focused menu items.
Take part in regular training related to nutrition, kitchen safety, and culinary development.
Skills Required:
Previous experience in a professional kitchen is preferred but not essential; training provided.
Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety practices.
Interest in healthy cooking and nutrition-led cuisine.
Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods.
Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management abilities.
Enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn from senior chefs.
Please note this is a part time position of 5.5 Hours per week. The position is based on Sunday's 10.30AM - 4.00PM however on the first Sunday of each calendar month, you will instead work the same hours 10.30AM - 4.00PM on the preceding Saturday.
