We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our small Kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in fast-paced kitchen environments. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills, gain valuable experience in gastroi style pub settings, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Commis Chef will support senior kitchen staff in daily operations, ensuring high-quality food production and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Duties
Assist in food preparation and cooking brunch - lunch - dinner and buffets
Maintain proper food handling and safety procedures in accordance with health regulations
Help to manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock rotation
Help to supervise food production processes to ensure consistency and quality standards are met
Contribute to kitchen management tasks such as shift management, inventory management, and kitchen organisation
Assist in supervising junior kitchen staff and porters and coordinate team efforts during busy service periods
Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils at all times
Support dietary department needs by preparing specialized meals as required
Participate in food service management activities including catering and restaurant operations
Experience
Previous experience in banquet settings or fine dining establishments is highly desirable
Knowledge of food safety standards and inventory management practices is essential
Familiarity with hospitality services and local gastro pub environments working in an open kitchen is preferred
Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety
