We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and ensure high standards of food safety and quality. The Commis will work closely with senior chefs and team members to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
Duties
Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support the kitchen team in food presentation, garnishing, and plating to ensure visual appeal
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations
Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and storage organisation
Support senior chefs during busy service periods by ensuring smooth kitchen operations
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to uphold hygiene standards
Contribute to team efforts by supervising junior staff when required and fostering a collaborative environment
Participate in menu development ideas and culinary innovation projects as directed
Experience
Previous experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen environments is desirable
Supervising experience or team management skills are advantageous but not essential
Familiarity with food safety protocols, hygiene standards, and restaurant operations is preferred
Experience in hospitality or serving roles can be beneficial for understanding customer service expectations
A background in culinary arts or restaurant experience will support effective performance in this role
Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to work well within a team are highly valued
