Bouygues Energies and Services currently has an exciting opportunity within our Facilities department for a Commis Chef to support our catering facilities at King\'s College London in Waterloo.

This is a permanent position working 40 hours p/week, 8 hours per day (rostered for 9 hours with a 1 hour unpaid break) to be completed between 07.00 & 16.00 working 5 days out of 7 (occasional later evenings will be required until 10pm). Please note there will be a requirement in the contract to work weekends as and when required, in particular for the three summer months of June, July and August due to weekend hospitality events/summer schools.

Key Activities:

  • Reporting to the Head Chef
  • To ensure a professional food operation with fast smooth delivery
  • To assist the kitchen in the daily operation and production of food ensuring the company\'s reputation for food quality is maintained at all times.
  • To ensure that dishes are prepared and cooked according to the specifications of the Head Chef and King\'s food standards
  • Responsible for the ordering of supplies to meet the demands of the food preparation areas
  • To assist in the preparation of hospitality requirements for events
  • To maintain hygiene, cleanliness, health & safety within the kitchen/servery
  • To ensure all records are maintained in respect of temperature control and control the flow on all catering produce and consumables
  • To complete all paperwork for stock movements on a daily basis, ensuring good stock rotation
  • Working 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day between 06:00 and 23:00 (typically 07:00 to 16:00), 5 days from 7
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role / high volume catering environment is essential
  • Must have previous chef experience
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in catering and hospitality
  • Strong team player with excellent communications skills
  • An intermediate food hygiene certificate is essential
  • Previous Health & Safety or COSHH training desirable
  • A good understanding of HACCP & food allergens is essential
