We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for food preparation and culinary arts, with experience in kitchen environments. The Commis will work closely with senior chefs and team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and uphold food safety standards.
Duties
Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
Prepare ingredients and basic components for dishes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
Support the team in maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen
Follow recipes accurately and adhere to portion control guidelines
Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen during service periods
Assist in supervising junior staff or trainees when required, fostering a collaborative team environment
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Participate in stock rotation, inventory checks, and proper storage of ingredients
Requirements
Proven experience in food production, kitchen operations, or hospitality environments
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience in food preparation, cooking, and culinary techniques
Strong team management skills and ability to supervise or mentor junior staff or trainees
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality control
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not essential
