The W Cafe Restaurant is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis to join their culinary team in a vibrant restaurant environment. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation and production, ensuring that all dishes meet their high standards of quality and presentation. This role is perfect for individuals looking to develop their skills in the hospitality industry while working under the guidance of a fantastic Head Chef.

This is a Monday to Friday job, off every weekend and no late evenings as the W Cafe close at 8 pm. Bank holiday also off !!!

We are locate in Madingley road, Cambridge CB30US, reachable by bus, car or bicycle

Duties

Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes according to established recipes and standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Support senior kitchen staff by preparing ingredients, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring out portions. Help with the plating and presentation of dishes to ensure they meet restaurant standards. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during service hours. Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation or a similar role within a kitchen or restaurant setting is advantageous but not essential, college leavers welcomed. Strong understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food production processes. A passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering high-quality service. Leadership qualities with a willingness to learn from senior staff members.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21-14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 36 per week
