Summary



The

Commissioning & Compliance Technician (UK)

is a field-based technical role responsible for ensuring the correct installation, commissioning, maintenance, and compliance of our clients EV charging infrastructure across

bus depots and high-utilisation fleet environments

in the UK.

This role is pivotal to delivering our clients whole-of-life-cycle support model -- encompassing

installation QA, live commissioning, preventive maintenance, SLA adherence, and long-term reliability

. The Technician will act as a technical authority on site, verifying that all infrastructure meets OEM specifications, UK compliance standards, and our clients quality assurance procedures.

Working in partnership with the

UK Country Manager

, this position also involves

close coordination with our clients installation and maintenance partners

, ensuring they are properly trained, supported, and consistently delivering service to client expectations.

Responsibilities



Commissioning & QA Oversight



Conduct live commissioning of Kempower EV charging systems, including configuration of ChargEye, load management, and safety verification. Ensure control cabling, power connections, Ethernet configuration, and interlocks are correctly installed. Validate installation quality in accordance with OEM documentation, clients QA procedures, and BS7671 electrical standards. Complete and submit detailed commissioning checklists, electrical test results, and photographic evidence.

Maintenance & Lifecycle Support



Perform preventive maintenance as per Kempower Maintenance Plan, including inspection of filters, connections, cooling systems, RCDs, and cable assemblies. Document all activities and upload records to ChargEye and the clients systems to support warranty and SLA compliance. Assist with corrective maintenance and field diagnostics, ensuring uptime of charging infrastructure is maintained. Provide input into asset condition reviews and recommendations for lifecycle extension.

Partner Engagement & Performance Support



Work collaboratively with

installation and maintenance partners

to ensure all works meet our clients QA, compliance, and client expectations. Verify that all partners are

properly trained and certified

, and escalate non-conformances or training gaps to the COO for action. Support contractors during commissioning and QA walkthroughs, providing technical direction where needed. Help maintain a high-performing partner network through consistent engagement, site feedback, and structured handovers.

SLA Compliance & Documentation



Execute all work to meet the service timeframes and performance obligations defined under

Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

. Maintain detailed field documentation, including signed test results, configuration records, and client-facing handover documents. Upload reports to the clients documentation portal and ChargEye platform to ensure full traceability and audit readiness.

Field Technical Support & Escalation



Act as first response for on-site technical issues during commissioning or maintenance phases. Escalate unresolved or complex technical issues to the AU technical support for resolution. Provide input to the Service Coordinator regarding spare parts needs and logistical support.

Skills and Experience



Hands-on field experience with EV chargers, industrial power systems, or automation/control equipment. Understanding of DC charging infrastructure, particularly high-power systems for fleet environments. Proficiency in loop impedance testing, RCD trip time verification, insulation resistance testing, and visual inspection. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, SLDs, and manufacturer documentation. Familiarity with UK wiring regulations (BS7671) and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) requirements.

Qualifications



NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent Inspection & Testing certification. ECS Gold Card or JIB-recognised accreditation (preferred). Kempower Academy training (to be completed during onboarding). Valid UK driver's licence and right to work in the UK.

Performance Expectations



100% of installations verified against the clients QA standards prior to handover. Preventive maintenance tasks completed and logged per the prescribed annual schedule. Zero warranty-impacting issues resulting from commissioning or maintenance defects. Positive contractor engagement and improvement in partner capability and performance over time. Full compliance with SLA targets for response, resolution, and documentation.
