About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Commodity Operations Analyst to work for our client within the banking sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.



As a Commodity Operations Analyst you will be working for within our clients Commodity Operations team. As part of a highly skilled team, you will provide operational support and control to our growing Commodity Markets and Finance Division. This role offers the chance to work closely with trading and sales teams and gain exposure to a variety of physical commodity transactions, focusing on either Base Metals or Oil products.


Responsibilities




Validation of trade bookings, ensure accuracy and compliance in trade bookings.

Drafting of trade confirmations: prepare and verify trade confirmations.

Monitoring electronic matching portals: oversee electronic matching portals for transaction accuracy.

Facilitating cash & physical asset settlements: manage settlements for cash and physical assets.

Reconciling cash balances: perform regular reconciliations of cash balances.

Act as a key contact for internal stakeholders and external clients.

Utilise problem-solving skills to address client needs and enhance service delivery.

Collaborate with local and global colleagues to ensure smooth daily operational processes.

Identify and deliver process improvements to optimise workflow, increase efficiency, enhance controls, and improve service quality.

About You

Requirements




Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure are vital for this fast-paced role.

Experience with commodities, ideally physical commodities (i.e. Oil or Metals)

Experience working on a trade floor or in a operations team

Strong technical skills - Python, SQL, VBA highly preferred

Understanding of commodity markets, pricing dynamics, logistics, and risk management
