The NCRN is a new Sustainable Centre funded by the recent investment of 48M into research by Health and Care Research Wales. The NCRN is unique in being the only Centre to receive additional funding through partnership with the British Heart Foundation and seeks to facilitate the development of cross-HEI/UHB inter-disciplinary work with translational relevance to clinical application. This pan-Wales Network embeds a collaborative alliance between researchers, clinicians, patients, public, Universities and Health Boards to enhance critical mass and excellence in cardiovascular research.
To be based within the Centre for Cardiovascular Research, Innovation and Development (CURIAD) at Cardiff Met, the NCRN is looking for a communications and engagement professional who will develop and deliver the communications and engagement strategy for the NCRN and provide strategic support to its members. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced science/health communications professional to lead communications, drive engagement and support public involvement for cutting-edge cardiovascular research.
You will lead the way by:
Designing, producing and delivering high-quality internal and external communications content covering the NCRNs cardiovascular research and engagement activities.
Managing NCRNs brand and a range of communications tools and channels to reach audiences across academia, health care, industry, charities, as well as patients and the public.
Acting as a key point of contact for the network's members and partners, whilst building and maintaining good networks with a wide range of stakeholders.
Supporting the NCRN and its members in the development and implementation of its public involvement in research activities.
What you'll bring
With a strong track record of public relations and engagement and superb written communication skills, you'll be able to develop and deliver insightful science communications and engagement activities. You will have a good knowledge of digital communications tools and techniques including video, updating and maintaining web pages, and social networks. Your direct experience will allow you to develop new relationships with multiple stakeholders, including ability to liaise effectively with senior figures from academia, industry and other strategic alliances. You'll have a proven awareness and have detailed knowledge of successful implementation of digital and direct strategies for engagement of public and patients with science/health.
