About Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust
Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust has been at the heart of the community for over 50 years, supporting people before, during and after breast cancer. We raise awareness, educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and provide vital one-to-one support and practical help to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.
Role Purpose
We are looking for a confident, friendly and proactive Communications & Engagement Officer to help raise our profile locally and make sure our charity remains visible and accessible to the people who need us most.
This is a face-to-face role, not focused on social media management. Instead, you will be out in the community, building strong relationships with local press and media, representing Lady McAdden at community events, and forging connections with local organisations, businesses and groups.
Your work will help ensure that people know who we are, what we do, and how we can help. You will be a positive ambassador for our charity, telling our story and inspiring people to connect with us, support us and spread the word.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with local newspapers, radio stations, TV outlets and community press.
Draft and distribute press releases, stories and case studies to secure positive coverage.
Identify and attend relevant community events, fairs, talks and networking opportunities to represent the charity.
Build partnerships with local businesses, schools, community groups and faith groups to widen our reach.
Organise and deliver talks and presentations to raise awareness of breast cancer signs and symptoms and the support we offer.
Work closely with the Operations Manager and wider team to identify and share good news stories and impact updates.
Help to recruit and support volunteers and community ambassadors to spread awareness.
Gather stories, feedback and images from the community that can be used to showcase our work (for the wider team to share online if needed).
Be a positive, visible ambassador for Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust in the community.
Maintain clear records of activities, contacts and coverage.
Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the success of the charity.
