Main Purpose of the Role
The Communications and Engagement Officer will play a central role in leading the organisation's communications, branding, and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring a consistent and professional presence across all channels and audiences. The postholder will also support the Development and Fundraising Manager in the delivery of the fundraising plan and contribute to the administration and delivery of major projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Communications and Branding
Help to deliver a clear and compelling organisational narrative, ensuring all communications reflect the ethos, values, and impact of the organisation.
Support the creation and delivery of an easily understood ethos, values, and impact narrative, including the brand strategy.
Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, stakeholder updates, and regular communications to promote research, our services and key strategic aims such as volunteer recruitment.
Maintain a rolling 12-month engagement diary, ensuring proactive and timely communication with all key audiences.
Manage the organisation's digital channels and plan content and distribution
Oversee the design and production of branded materials, including leaflets and posters, ensuring consistency and quality.
Create and manage engaging content for the organisation's social media platforms, ensuring alignment with branding and communications strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
Support effective and timely engagement with our key external stakeholders
Develop and deliver occasional presentations to a range of audiences, including parishes, companies, community groups, and colleges.
Act as a key point of contact for public, media, and stakeholder enquiries, supporting organisational resilience and reputation.
Supporting the Fundraising Plan
Support the Development and Fundraising Manager in the delivery of the fundraising plan, including the administration and delivery of key projects such as the Patrons' Club, business supporters' network, legacy gifting, and geographical support for branches.
Assist with the organisation and delivery of major events, such as the AGM, staff conferences, and fundraising events.
Content creation
Coordinate and produce case studies and statistics that demonstrate the organisation's impact.
Collate data and stories for the annual impact report, working with colleagues to evidence outcomes and achievements.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills and Experience
Excellent digital skills
Good social media management skills
Ability to work to deadlines and deliver to plans independently
Ability to work as part of a remote team
Confident communicator with experience of occasionally presenting to groups and working with senior contacts
Experience in developing and delivering promotional presentations to a range of audiences
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience working in a busy public sector (emergency service, council/government), charity, or commercial communications team
Experience in fundraising and engagement work with donors
Experience in the design and production of promotional materials
Experience of project management
Other Requirements
Norfolk-based and able to travel across the county
Some out-of-hours work at occasional events
Subject to a probationary period
