Job Description


Policy Connect is looking for an ambitious Communications and Events Co-ordinator to join our team.

You will sit within the central team and work alongside each of the five policy teams: Health; Sustainability; Accessibility; Industry, Technology, & Innovation; and Education & Skills. You will work with each team to deliver events and support communications work to boost Policy Connect\xe2\x80\x99s reach and profile and ensure our work has impact.

For example, this could include leading the delivery of an online roundtable on accessible transport and supporting the development of a resulting evidence summation to the Government\xe2\x80\x99s accessible transport consultation. Another example would be supporting colleagues to launch a report on net zero policy, by writing a press release, engaging with media, and managing invites for the launch event in Parliament.

In addition, you will work with the Director of Communications and Operations to develop and deliver our communications and social media strategy; and work with our Director of Policy to develop and deliver our political insight and intelligence strategy.

Main duties:

  • Delivering policy events in parliament and online (incl. roundtables, panel events and receptions). Support project manager with follow-up work (incl. policy papers and write ups).
  • Writing comms outputs - website/social media
  • Support drafting of press work (incl. press releases and OpEds).
  • Support delivery of major policy outputs and reports, e.g., editing and helping to manage final stages of report production.
  • Manage relationships with media and press contacts (incl. stakeholder comms offices).
  • Support the development of organisational confidence and skills with communications and external engagement.
Person requirements:

Essential
  • Ability to synthesise complex ideas, craft arguments and produce clearly structured analysis of complicated subjects.
  • Experience writing interesting, attention-grabbing articles, blogs, press releases, or other external communications.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders, including to organise events.
  • Dynamic worker, happy to work within a small team and willing to adapt work to meet changing short and long-term objectives.
