Growing Links CIC is a grassroots, not-for-profit organisation based in West Cornwall. We are dedicated to creating fairer, greener communities by addressing food poverty, promoting sustainable living, and standing up for social justice. Through our community gardens, the Street Food Project, the Tree Field, and our educational and food-growing programmes, we empower people to grow, connect, and thrive.
We believe that everyone should have access to good food, green spaces, and a supportive community -- and we're looking for someone who shares our values to help us tell our story and grow our impact.
Role Overview
We are seeking a creative, organised and purpose-driven
Event and Communications Coordinator
to lead on the planning and delivery of engaging events and outreach activities, while strengthening our internal and external communications across platforms.
This role is perfect for someone with a strong passion for the environment, food justice, and wellbeing -- who enjoys building relationships, telling stories, and creating spaces where people feel included and inspired.
Key Responsibilities
Events Coordination
Plan, promote and deliver community events, workshops, and campaigns that support environmental awareness, food justice and community wellbeing.
Coordinate wellbeing-focused events on our Tree Field (such as seasonal gatherings, nature connection workshops, and outdoor activities).
Promote and manage the hire of our community spaces, liaising with facilitators and ensuring bookings align with our values.
Develop and lead on events and initiatives that attract new veg bag customers and raise awareness of our affordable, locally-grown produce.
Maintain an up-to-date events calendar and ensure timely promotion and evaluation.
Campaigns and Communications
Develop and implement marketing campaigns to promote our projects and services -- including veg bags, volunteering, and educational activities.
Manage and grow our social media presence (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) with regular, compelling content that reflects our mission.
Write and design engaging newsletters, press releases, blog posts and outreach materials.
Keep our website content current and accessible.
Capture and share the stories of our community in a respectful, ethical and empowering way.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Build and maintain relationships with local groups, organisations, media contacts, and community members.
Promote our work to diverse audiences, particularly those experiencing marginalisation or food insecurity.
Represent Growing Links at outreach events, markets, and in community spaces.
