As of 2023, we have recorded over 90-million instances of walking, jogging, running, and volunteering. Our mission is to transform lives by empowering people to be active, together, outdoors in their local community; and to protect parkrun for the generations to come. Each and every weekend, we deliver free, weekly timed events that people of all ages and backgrounds can join in. By tackling barriers to participation, we encourage communities to come together and embrace regular physical activity. Now in its 19th year, parkrun spans over 2,300 locations in 22 countries with more than 9 million people registered, and counting. The Communications Intern supports parkrun\xe2\x80\x99s external (participants/volunteers) and internal (global staff/ambassadors) communications. The role also assists in the creation and distribution of engaging content in the form of social media posts, email marketing campaigns, press releases and newsletters. The Communications Intern is also responsible for writing and creating blog content that share case studies and promote parkrun\xe2\x80\x99s mission. Responsibilities:

  • Receive, create and distribute global newsletters to 11 countries (in six different languages, with the help of translation ambassadors).
  • Design and mail out the retail marketing emails to over 700k+ recipients.
  • Proof-read short or long copy that will be used for any external communications (emails, newsletters, retail, press releases, blog posts, social media posts).
  • Update and maintain the retail email tracking Google sheet prior to the retail weekly meeting.
  • Support the Communications team in managing and replying to Feedback From the Field submissions.
  • Write and create blog content for the website \xe2\x80\x93 in the form of case studies or top tips.
  • Organise and regularly update the Communications photo library and marketing Flickr, so it reflects parkrun\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to inclusivity.
  • Assisting with ongoing communications campaigns.
  • Assist the Social Media Manager in scheduling social media posts and replying to messages.
  • Provide email marketing reports to the Communications Team and Territory Managers
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required
Desirable Experience Requirements:
  • Experience in the charity sector.
  • Experience in social media management.
  • Experience in creating written content.
  • Experience in content management systems.
Location: hybrid working with three days in the office in Richmond, South West London.
