As a Communications and Marketing Officer for Basildon Park, you'll be responsible for letting people know about the place, and how they can visit.

What it's like to work here:Reporting to the Visitor Experience Manager, you'll take the lead on marketing and communications across the Thames Valley Group, which includes Basildon Park, Greys Court, and Nuffield Place. Each property has its own unique character, heritage, and story, yet all are united by the National Trust's mission to protect and promote places of historic interest and natural beauty for everyone, for ever.


In this role, you'll be responsible for crafting and delivering compelling, locally relevant campaigns that engage diverse audiences, deepen visitor connections, and support the Trust's strategic priorities. You'll work collaboratively with property teams to ensure that each site's distinct identity is celebrated while aligning with the wider brand and values of the National Trust.


You'll be working with colleagues across a broad range of disciplines and activities to champion inclusive storytelling, community engagement, and great conservation. Supporting the General Manager and leadership team you'll also play a key role in driving footfall, enhancing visitor experience, and supporting income generation through thoughtful, creative communications.



What you'll be doing:We have an annual plan covering communications and marketing, and your role from will be to achieve what's on that plan. We have some ambitious targets that you'll be aiming at, including reaching new and diverse audiences, so there's room for creativity and fresh ideas.



Your day-to-day work will cover things like creating new content on our web pages, and making sure that existing information remains relevant and accurate, running social media accounts, creating promotional materials and writing and distributing press releases.



You'll be working closely with your colleagues on site and the Trusts regional advisers, known as consultants. You'll be part of a team making sure that we're sharing the best stories we can, with a focus on spreading the word about places to visit and letting people know about the Trust's conservation work.

Additional criteria for all other applicants:
experienced in writing and speaking clearly skilled in working with IT (including Microsoft Office) good at solving problems, and able to work on your own initiative
