Job Advert Description
Are you a confident communicator looking for the next step in your career in a role that will allow you to make a genuine difference to communities across south-west and mid Wales?
We're searching for Corporate Communications Officers with a mix of skills, who will play an active role in the full spectrum of communications, including campaign development and delivery, internal communications, media relations and proactive content creation.
We need strong writing skills, curiosity and eagerness to learn about Dyfed-Powys Police, its officers, staff and communities, and the ability to take a story and build creative comms around it.
This is a varied and fast-paced role where you'll manage communications around operational policing matters on press desk, which means you'll be on the frontline of breaking news, supporting colleagues across the force with communications around live investigations and incidents, responding to queries from officers, staff and journalists, as well as keeping the public informed.
You'll also get stuck in to planning and delivering communications activity that informs communities about the work we do to keep people safe, writing proactive content for different platforms, and making best use of traditional and new media.
We're looking for colleagues who can build positive relationships with teams and stakeholders across the force area, influence people at all levels of the organisation, and work well as part of a team.
Where you have experience, you will hit the ground running. Training will be available for areas in which you are not as experienced, and you'll become part of a friendly, passionate, and supportive team. You'll join the on-call rota when you're ready, with a standby allowance and additional payment for out of hours work.
Existing media law knowledge is a bonus but not a must - training will be provided to get you up to speed.
Communicating effectively with our people and our communities has never been more important, so if you're a talented communicator with heaps of enthusiasm and ideas, a background in the media, marketing , or a busy communications role, and would like to use your skills for the benefit of our force and the areas we serve, we'd love to hear from you!
Dyfed-Powys Police is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from candidates regardless of ethnic origin, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other irrelevant factor.

24 days annual leave starting, increasing to 29 days after five years' service and 32 after 10 years
Flexi time, with up to 24 flexi days per year
