About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

Innovation and Change in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where people use their vision and commitment to open doors for the next generations.

Nothing beats the feeling of helping someone find their passion. At Westminster City Council, our City Lions team helps young local people engage with culture, creativity and dreams. When they came across a lonely, isolated 16-year-old who called himself a failure, they knew what to do. They worked 1-2-1 to find the thing this boy really loved. YouTube, it turned out. But it\'s impossible to turn that into a career, right? Wrong. A week later, he was enrolled on the British Film Institute film-making programme. It was the ultimate light-bulb moment. And it turned him into what he is today - a budding Spielberg with a world of opportunity at his feet.

The Role:

As a Programme Manager in our North Paddington area, you can make your own powerful contribution to improving outcomes for individuals and communities in the north west of our borough. We want to transform lives by listening to the people who know this area best: the residents. You will gather their input and feedback to help tackle social, economic and health inequalities, improve services and to engage local people more actively. By working as part of this ambitious, fast-paced, place-based programme, you\'ll be contributing to future strategy and creating a positive, lasting legacy. Day to day you\'ll be out and about, meeting community members and organisations, hearing community stories, and using research, community insight and data to shape change. Along the way, you\'ll get to meet inspiring people who do amazing work in our local communities.

Please refer to the for more information.

About You:

Compassionate and committed to inclusion, you\'re likely to have a background in a local authority or public-focused organisation, where you will have worked closely with diverse communities and managed a wide range of stakeholders. You combine a good knowledge of service improvement and programme management with a passion for engaging directly with the community. With excellent relationship-building, negotiating and influencing skills, you\'ll be ready to break down silos and find collaborative solutions. You\'ll be capable of gathering, analysing and presenting data and will also have good project management and budgetary skills. You must be ready to work some evenings and weekends.

The Council is committed to achieving diverse shortlists to support our desire to increase the number of staff from underrepresented groups in our workforce. We especially encourage applications from a global majority background and, while the role is open to all applicants, we will utilise the positive action provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to appoint a candidate from a global majority background where there is a choice between two candidates of equal merit. If you are from a Global Majority background, you can self-declare this to the hiring manager as part of our positive action commitments.
