To gain practical experience and nationally recognised qualifications while supporting the delivery of fun, safe and engaging physical activity and sports sessions for children. The apprentice will learn to plan, lead and evaluate sessions under the guidance of experienced Premier Education coaches.
Key Responsibilities
Assist qualified coaches in delivering PE lessons, extra-curricular clubs, and holiday programmes.
Support the planning and organisation of a variety of sports and physical activities suitable for primary-aged children.
Set up and pack away equipment, ensuring a safe environment at all times.
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, school staff and colleagues.
Promote inclusive participation, encouraging every child to be active and develop confidence.
Observe and record session feedback to support personal learning and programme improvement.
Complete apprenticeship coursework, attend training days, and work toward the required coaching and safeguarding qualifications.

Essential Requirements
Minimum age 16 (to meet apprenticeship funding rules).
Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
Commitment to completing all apprenticeship standards and Premier Education training modules.
Desirable
Experience volunteering or helping with sports clubs, PE, or youth groups.
Basic knowledge of child safeguarding and health & safety.
Training & Support Provided
Level 2 (or Level 3) Community Activator Coach or Sports Coaching qualification.
First Aid and Safeguarding training.
Mentoring from experienced Premier Education coaches.
Opportunities for progression to a permanent coaching role upon successful completion.

The Level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship helps learners develop the knowledge and skills needed to inspire and engage people in sport and physical activity within local communities. It creates opportunities for individuals to support health, wellbeing, and participation while giving employers staff who can run safe and inclusive sessions.
Course Overview
The programme introduces the fundamentals of coaching, activity delivery, and community engagement. Learners gain an understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and how to use sport to positively impact participants. The apprenticeship combines practical delivery with structured learning.
