based in the Kingston-Upon-Thames Area. They are a school for pupils with
social, emotional and mental health difficulties i
n addition to complex needs including
Anxiety, ASD, ADHD, Toxic childhood stress, attachment difficulties and developmental trauma or delay
.

The successful candidate will have a

and a genuine passion for working with
children with SEN
. The role will include working with pupils who are on one of the school's pathways to employment placements.
This is an offsite placement for pupils in years 10 to 14
who's needs are best met within the community. It is a full-time placement that is designed according to the specific needs of each pupil, as defined by their EHCP. All pathways aim to develop the individuals independent living and employability skills maximising their opportunity to gain employment.
Job Purpose - Community Based SEN HLTA - Behaviour Mentor - Kingston-upon-Thames
The purpose of the offsite High Level Teaching Assistant role is to work with pupils who are on Maypole's Pathways to Employment placements.
You would start working in support of an experienced Off-site TA, and once your induction training is complete then you would work 1:1 with Pathways students, to provide general pastoral and academic support to them.
These students typically have social, emotional and mental health difficulties, with additional complex needs and challenging behaviour.
You are required to teach basic Maths and English, and support the students to develop their social skills, and life and independence skills on a daily basis. You will also accompany and support them during vocational courses and work experience, and physical / sporting activities.
Duties and responsibilities of the post may change over time as requirements and circumstances change. The person in the post may also be required to carry out such other duties as may be necessary from time to time.
Person Specification - Community Based SEN HLTA - Behaviour Mentor - Kingston-upon-Thames
HLTA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant certificate is desirable but not essential
Experience working with children who have autism (ASD)
A strong, confident individual who can work remotely on a 1:1 basis
Able to engage well with pupils and staff
Smartly presented and with excellent time management skills
