As a Community Care Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to service users of Better Support Staffing Ltd, addressing their physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs through a person-centred approach. You will promote choice, independence, dignity, privacy, and overall wellbeing, while respecting the rights of each individual. Building and maintaining positive professional relationships with service users, their families, friends, and other professionals is essential. You will also work collaboratively with other Care Workers and ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver personal care and support to service users with a range of needs, health conditions, and disabilities Understand each service user's individual care requirements Follow care and support plans using a person-centred and least intrusive approach Encourage independence and motivation, avoiding the development of dependency Provide regular feedback to the Field Care Supervisor to contribute to care planning Support service users with morning routines and bedtime preparation Assist with washing, bathing, showering, dressing, and undressing Support personal grooming, including skin, oral, hair, and nail care Assist with toileting, continence care, and personal hygiene Support medication in line with agreed levels of assistance and Medication Care Needs Assessments Prepare meals and drinks, considering preferences, dietary requirements, cultural needs, and nutrition Carry out light domestic tasks such as cleaning and laundry, as outlined in care plans or directed by management Use manual handling equipment correctly and safely Ensure the safe handling of service users' property and equipment Communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with service users Offer companionship by engaging in conversation and actively listening Support service users in maintaining contact with family and friends Accompany service users on community outings and appointments Assist with managing personal affairs where appropriate Maintain a safe living environment while respecting individual choices and rights
Key Qualities and Requirements

Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Care Worker in a healthcare setting A compassionate and empathetic approach, with the ability to support individuals from diverse backgrounds Strong communication skills, demonstrating tact and sensitivity Ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations A valid DBS clearance to work with vulnerable individuals
Desirable Qualities:

Voluntary experience working for an organisation that supports vulnerable people

Confidentiality and Data Protection

The post holder must safeguard the confidentiality of information relating to patients, staff, and other healthcare organisations. Compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and all company information governance and data protection policies is mandatory at all times.

Health and Safety

Employees are required to understand and meet their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all related legislation. All agreed health and safety procedures must be followed to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Breaches of these requirements may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal.

Managing Stress

Better Support Staffing Ltd has established policies and support systems to help staff manage stress. All employees are expected to familiarise themselves with these resources and to take responsibility for managing their own wellbeing as well as supporting colleagues where appropriate.

Healthcare-Associated Infections (HCAIs)

All staff share responsibility for preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections. Employees must follow the Hygiene Code, the Health Act 2006, and all related company policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

Pay: 12.75-19.80 per hour
