Overview

The Community Care Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalised care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private residences. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and those with specific health needs. As a Community Care Worker, you will support clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while fostering independence.

Duties

Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities to promote emotional well-being. Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition. Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health status. Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary. Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with dementia or Alzheimer's care needs. Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to healthcare professionals. Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required. Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.

Skills

Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or similar environments is highly desirable. Proficiency in patient care techniques, including first aid and medication administration. Knowledge of senior care practices, hospice care, and dementia care principles. Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide emotional support and companionship. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. Ability to manage challenging behaviours compassionately and effectively. Competence in meal preparation that meets dietary requirements. A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients as needed.
