We are currently in the process of relocating Elective Colorectal & Lower GI Cancer Surgery and Stoma Reversal Surgery from Royal Sussex County in Brighton to the Worthing site, creating a centre of excellence for Colorectal Cancer Surgery delivered across at Worthing and St Richard's hospitals
This is an exciting development where we be investing in new theatre and bed capacity and associated surgeon, anaesthetic, nursing, therapies and other workforce requirements to meet the additional demand in Worthing.
This new post will be key in supporting the delivery of the service.
The post holder will work with the Stoma Care Nursing t e am in delivering and managing an expert Stoma Care Nursing Service for University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust predominantly in the community and at Worthing General Hospital. The role involve s patient centred individualised care to those undergoing Colorectal, Urology and G ynaecology surgery resulting in a stoma . You will also support paediatric and neonatal stoma care services within both seco ndary and primary care settings . You will provide professional and clinical expertise to assist the physical, psychological , and social rehabilitation of patients requiring surgery involving stoma for mation .
You will provide specialist services and advice to patients and their families who potentially or require stoma forming surgery. This role will require the post holder to undertake community visits and will run nurse-led clinics and will teach a wide range of healthcare professionals and will be able to lead the team at times and support and direct the junior stoma care CNS's . The position would be suitable for a registered nurse with proven experience working as a Stoma C are CNS with Surgical and Colorectal experience . You will be look ing to further develop your career as a Sto ma Care Nurse specialist and will have a passion for the speciality a nd service development.
