Purpose of the Role
The Community Wellbeing Worker will coordinate and deliver inclusive, community-based health and wellbeing activities across Kelsey Family CIC's three community spaces: Cariad Corner Cafe, The Cwtch Community Pantry, and the Recovery Hub.
This role supports the Connected project's aim to reduce isolation, improve physical and mental wellbeing, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen community resilience in Amber Valley.
Key Responsibilities - Programme Delivery
Develop and deliver weekly wellbeing activities, workshops, and themed sessions (e.g. cooking demos, gentle exercise, creative and social sessions).
Coordinate joint sessions linking the cafe, pantry, and recovery hub - for example, using pantry ingredients in cooking sessions or budgeting workshops.
Facilitate inclusive sessions for older adults, families, and young people (including literacy and school-transition support).
Plan and deliver themed events under Amber Valley's key health priorities:
Healthy Lifestyle (e.g. eat well on a budget, light physical activity)
Healthy Ageing (e.g. memory cafes, falls prevention)
Children & Families (e.g. story and snack sessions)
Financial Inclusion (e.g. budgeting, pantry access)
Community Engagement
Build positive relationships with community members, volunteers, and partner organisations.
Promote the project through outreach, social media, and community networks.
Encourage participation among isolated, low-income, and recovery-focused individuals.
Act as a key link between participants and wider services (social prescribers, GPs, mental health charities, schools).
Partnership Working
Collaborate with partners such as Amber Valley CVS, GP surgeries, schools, Hope for Belper, NHS Health Check teams, and local food networks.
Attend partnership meetings and represent Kelsey Family CIC at local wellbeing events.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Record attendance, engagement, and feedback using simple monitoring tools.
Collect stories, surveys, and informal wellbeing check-ins to demonstrate impact.
Support quarterly reporting and contribute to mid-point and final evaluations.
Safeguarding, Health & Safety and GDPR
Adhere to all Kelsey Family CIC and Derbyshire County Council safeguarding policies.
Report any safeguarding or serious incidents immediately to the Director and relevant authorities.
Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
Comply with all health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
Person Specification
Experience delivering community or wellbeing activities
Experience in trauma-informed or recovery-based practice
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Amber Valley communities and local networks
Ability to build rapport with diverse individuals and groups
Experience supporting vulnerable adults or families
Commitment to equality, inclusion, and safeguarding
Health or wellbeing qualification (e.g. MHFA, coaching, public health)
Basic IT and administrative skills
Experience in monitoring/evaluation or impact reporting
Self-motivated, reliable, and organised
Understanding of social prescribing pathways
Training and Support
Induction covering safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, partnership working, and project procedures.
Access to relevant training (e.g. MHFA, Health Literacy, Suicide Prevention, Quality Conversations, DRP Lived Experience Pathway).
Ongoing supervision and reflective support from the Project Manager/Director.
Contract Terms
Fixed-term position: 1 October 2025 - 30 September 2026.
12.50/hour, 12 hours per week (average, flexible scheduling).
Based across Cariad Corner Cafe, The Cwtch Pantry, and the Recovery Hub.
Subject to enhanced DBS check and references.
