Job Description

West Devon Community and Voluntary Services (WDCVS) are looking for a motivated and organised individual, with a passion for people, community action, to join our team in the role of Community Engagement Coordinator.

This role is specifically designed to deliver the effective implementation of our successful National Lottery bid to deliver the project titled, Encouraging Active Citizenship.

The role will require you to travel to work across West Devon so having your own transport is essential. You will be required to attend working together days alternate weeks, in Okehampton on Wednesdays and Tavistock on Thursdays. This is subject to change at the discretion of the management. Some working from home will also be possible.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities



Recruitment and Placement: Actively seek out and find new ways to recruit volunteers through various channels, including social media, community events, and partnerships with local organizations. Match volunteers to roles that align with their skills and interests. Be the first point of contact for those wishing to engage in volunteering conducting interviews to identify people's volunteering preferences and needs and then match them with appropriate organisations/opportunities.

Event Planning and Coordination: Organise and promote volunteer events, including recruitment drives, training sessions, and appreciation events.

To provide news and information on volunteering as requested for newsletters.

Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of activities and prepare reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program and identify areas for improvement. Develop data management (Devon Connect, etc), collection and analysis systems to support project reporting and inform project development.

Community Engagement: Foster relationships with community partners and stakeholders to enhance volunteer opportunities and promote WDCVS services.

Support WDCVS to enhance its current offer in an effective way.

General:



Keep abreast and inform WDCVS of developments both locally and nationally, including changes in legislation affecting volunteering activity. Undertake risk assessments as required. Represent and support the work of WDCVS and work with other members of the staff team to ensure a quality service is provided to the not-for-profit sector. Work within all organisational policies and procedures. Be self-serving administratively. Attend regular supervision & appraisal and undertake training as agreed. Undertake any other duty that may reasonably be required of this position.

Person Specification



Commitment to and understanding of volunteering and the structure of the VCSE sector Experience of working in or with the voluntary sector either in a paid or volunteering capacity Experience of organising promotional campaigns including the use of social media Experience of co-ordinating and arranging events Experience delivering funded community projects. including producing clear, informative, accessible and appropriate reports and materials Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of groups and individuals Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a small team Sound knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion Good IT skills especially Microsoft Office 365 Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines Full driving license and own transport
