The REAP Community Gardener will be responsible for supporting and promoting growing activities at REAP Therapeutic Garden at the Oaks in Elgin. The post is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund until August 2027.
Candidates must have gardening experience. The role of the REAP Community Gardener will be to take the lead in organising growing sessions and workshops. The aim is to encourage people to use nature based interventions to support mental health wellbeing. The candidate must demonstrate ability to plan gardening tasks and run gardening sessions with a particular emphasis on food sustainability. Utilising previous experience in growing, the Community Gardener will work alongside REAP Therapeutic Garden Worker and participants at REAP Therapeutic Garden to carry out growing sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
A range of evaluation approaches will be implemented via surveys and feedback. Further, a team of volunteers will be recruited to support the work in the garden and training of this group will be ongoing throughout the project.
The successful candidate will also run free workshops and courses to help individuals learn new skills around growing, harvesting, and composting as well.
