Job Summary:

Square Enix, the company behind some of the world\'s most popular action and RPG brands including Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Life is Strange, is seeking a highly strategic and proactive Community Manager to join our team and help shape the future of franchises such as Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean and SaGa. The ideal candidate will be a big-picture thinker, with a results-driven approach to engaging our core fans.

As Community Manager, you will work closely with the Social Media Lead and other members of the Publishing Strategy team to deliver long-term community plans for various CBU1 franchises. This will include sustaining the community in between major releases and building campaigns to actively attract new fans.

Requirements:

Key Deliverables:

  • Partner with the Social Media Lead to craft the long-term community strategy for the assigned franchises in Western markets.
  • Partner with Square Enix Japan Project and Marketing teams to establish global community management best practices.
  • Act as a conduit between the community and Square Enix disciplines.
  • Represent the community and its interests during the creation of Publishing Strategies.
  • Closely collaborate with key cross-functional partners such as PR, Influencer Marketing, Social Media, Marketing, etc. to ensure alignment and execute world-class experiences for our community.
  • Act as the voice of the assigned brands across all channels where the community gathers, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Discord.
  • Monitor all formal forums for assigned brands.
  • Partner with regional Social Media teams and the Project Teams to coordinate streams, acting as on-camera talent when appropriate.
  • Represent the franchise as a spokesperson at industry and dedicated community events, with the potential for travel as part of these events.
  • Track community sentiment and discussions, sharing findings and recommendations with developers to help drive improvement.
  • Work with creative teams to create a variety of streaming and non-streaming video content that can excite and engage existing players while also attracting new players.
  • Organize periodic community activities including offline events, convention attendance, contests, and more.
  • Identify and foster professional relationships with key influencers and within our community.
Key Stakeholders:

Executive Director Marketing Publishing Strategy, Social Media Director, Senior Social Media Manager, Social Media Manager, PR Director and Managers, Influencer Relations Director and Managers.

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:
  • Advanced experience in the gaming industry, either with community management, communications, influencer marketing, or related fields.
  • Passion for gaming, and for Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts franchises in particular.
  • Deep understanding of the general motivations, desires, and needs of video game communities.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media trends, with a desire to explore new approaches and ideas.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Premiere for image and video creation and editing.
Competencies, Skills & Attributes:

Essential:
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Premiere for image and video creation and editing.
  • Ability to appear on-camera for streams and videos, as well as on-stage at events.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: Flexibility and diplomacy are key.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
  • Formal media training desired but not necessary.

We have a hybrid working policy which allows employees to work from the comfort of their home, three days per week, and in our amazing Blackfriars office for the other two.
