We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Navigator to support women within our community by providing guidance, resources, and advocacy. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a background within family support, criminal justice or health.
You will provide flexible, trauma-informed, relational support to women experiencing significant disadvantage, including those affected by criminalisation, trauma, and separation from their children.
The role focuses on advocacy, emotional safety, strengthening parenting relationships, and supporting women to navigate systems and access the support they need.
Main Duties
Direct Support & Advocacy
Build trusted, relational, trauma-informed connections with women who may be isolated or excluded from traditional services.
Provide one-to-one advocacy focused on emotional regulation, housing, system navigation, court processes, safety planning and parenting relationships.
Support women to identify personal goals and develop safety, stability and resilience.
Community Navigation & Partnership Working
Connect women with City Family services and relevant external agencies, reducing barriers to access and encouraging engagement.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local services and community pathways to ensure effective signposting and holistic support.
Work collaboratively with partners to address systemic barriers faced by families.
Develop referral pathways with external agencies
3. Risk, Safety & Compliance
Maintain awareness of venue procedures (e.g. evacuation, risk assessments) and ensure safe practice in all settings.
Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate in line with SET procedures and City Family policy.
Keep accurate, timely case notes, records, reports and impact statements.
4. Professional Development & Team Contribution
Attend supervision, reflective practice, team meetings and required training.
Contribute to ongoing learning, development and improvement of the relevant projects and wider services.

, as the role involves providing trauma-informed advocacy and direct support to women who have experienced gender-based violence, criminalisation, exploitation, and other forms of gender-specific trauma.
Delivering safe, appropriate, and effective support requires the post-holder to be a woman.

Person Specification
Experience
Experience working with women or families facing significant disadvantage, trauma or system involvement.
Proven ability to build safe, trusting relationships with people who may be isolated or reluctant to engage.
Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders or agencies.
Experience delivering community sessions, workshops or group-based programmes.
Experience maintaining accurate records and monitoring data.
Knowledge & Qualifications
A-Level/BTEC or equivalent in health, youth/family work, social care or related field, or relevant experience with CPD.
Level 1 Safeguarding (essential).
Awareness of trauma-informed practice, child development and the barriers faced by women affected by criminalisation, abuse and inequality.
Knowledge of local services and SET safeguarding procedures.
Skills & Abilities
Strong communication skills, including ability to adapt style to build rapport with diverse communities.
Ability to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to navigate complex emotional situations with compassion and boundaries.
Good IT skills and ability to update digital records.
Commitment to reflective practice and ongoing learning.
Additional
Ability to travel across the region - with full, clean drivers license and access to a vehicle being desirable
Must be able to work one evening per week, and occasional Saturdays

Salary
: 27600 (FTE), actual subject to hours agreed
Hours
: 16 to 20 (FTE is 35)

: TBC (Monday to Friday, with evening work included and occasional Saturdays)

1 day for birthday leave (FTE) and
1 additional day in December (FTE) (for business close down)
