We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Community Organiser to join Centrala and support the delivery of our Community Programme. You will work closely with the Migrant Programme Manager to shape, deliver, and grow initiatives that support Central and Eastern European (CEE) and other underrepresented migrant communities across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Your work will include community engagement, project development, planning, and delivery, helping to shape programmes that empower communities and promote inclusion. By co-creating events and collaborative support structures, you will help foster resilience and ensure migrant voices shape the communities we live in, influencing public narratives, civic life, and local policy.This role bridges cultural work and social impact, with strong community relationships at its heart.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Relationship Building
Build trust and relationships with CEE and wider migrant communities by attending events, initiating conversations, and working in the community as well as at Centrala.
Organise community workshops, events, and gatherings.
Conduct at least 3 one-to-ones per day to develop relationships with leaders and understand their concerns.
Identify and develop relational leaders prepared to act with others for the common good.
Support community members to navigate opportunities for training, work, and social support.
Maintain strong connections with local services, networks, stakeholders, and community leaders.
Represent Centrala's migrant work in partner forums and contribute to partnership-building across the region.
Work with the Marketing team to co-create a community engagement strategy, including social media and communications.
Project & Campaign Delivery
Help organise and schedule activities, ensuring smooth delivery of all project components.
Use tools like Asana to track progress, deadlines, and tasks.
Support accurate costing for events and ensure activities remain within budget.
Evaluate the effectiveness of actions and incorporate lessons learned into future activities.
Organise and support local actions, ensuring publicity and facilitating negotiations.
Develop and facilitate action planning with strategies for significant local impact.
Identify and discern actual and potential leaders with the passion and ability to drive change.
Support leaders through the Cycle of Action to create change.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Support the monitoring and evaluation of project impact in collaboration with the Programme Manager.
Assist in preparing reports to communicate outcomes, learning, and impact to funders and stakeholders.
Support data collection and keep expenditure records up to date.
Fundraising & Financial Oversight
Contribute to Centrala's financial viability through effective fundraising and financial management.
Manage project and campaign budgets, including setting and monitoring them.
Ensure dues are collected in a timely manner.
Training, Development & Organisational Learning
Be proactive about your own professional development and wellbeing.
Demonstrate ability to reflect on your organising craft and improve on self-identified weaknesses.
Contribute to effective teamwork and support the learning of others.
Produce all required reports and follow Centrala's procedures on time and to the required standards.
Participate in the development of the craft of Community Organising and in the Guild of COs.
Schedule an average of at least 3 one-to-one relational meetings into your daily schedule.
Commit 10 working days per annum (pro rata) to the Citizens UK National Community Leadership Training.
Participate in a Guild Team and help develop a Community of Practice across the UK.

Additional Information
This role will include occasional evening and regular weekend work.
Enhanced DBS check required.
