Permanent



Hybrid: Stopford House and homeworking, with regular meetings and visits across the Crew to Manchester and South East Manchester Community Rail Partnerships areas.

Your Role



The role is wide ranging with unique challenges and opportunities representing two Community Rail Partnerships and their overarching management group. Projects within the role are varied. You will work closely with Friends of Station groups, Train Operating Companies, Council/Network Rail officers, Councillors, community groups, residents, businesses and other key stakeholders to support the work of a local community rail partnership. The role offers the opportunity to be part of economic and social improvements and to support sustainability and health in our communities. Recent projects include: art displays, development and promotion of walks, rail safety promotion and minor station improvements.

About You



Experience of working with community groups and stakeholders to design, develop and deliver local projects and initiatives. Experience in budget monitoring and financial management. A self-starter with a creative approach to problem-solving and a can-do attitude Excellent verbal and written communication skills with varied audiences, including members of the public and stakeholders. An ability to work flexibly, with some evening and occasional weekend working. A professional approach, and the aptitude to work on your own initiative. An organised approach to work and meeting deadlines. Desire to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.

Community rail is a growing grassroots movement made up of community rail partnerships and groups across Britain. They engage communities and help people get the most from their railways, promoting social inclusion and sustainable travel, working alongside train operators to bring about improvements, and bringing stations back to life. As Community Rail Officer you'll play an important part in supporting a railway that is green, inclusive, resilient, and safe by providing a leading role in community rail activity across the 2 community rail lines hosted by the Council.
