Would you like to join our lovely Community Response team to help people with all kinds of needs to connect to all kinds of support across Dorset?
You'll be responding to daily requests for help with anything from finding local social activities, finding home-care providers, helping people who are struggling financially, and finding support groups and events for all interests and issues.
You'll be joining a small team whose kindness and hard work helps hundreds of local people and their families every year.
The team also provides support to colleagues in the public sector, working with social workers, as well as NHS staff in hospitals and GP surgeries. We also link in with voluntary and community sector groups and organisations and the commercial sector too.
The role is founded on having a caring and kind attitude to others and great personal skills to build relationships with people in need and those that support them.
There is a great sense of achievement when the links are made, and the person in need connects to the support you've found for them.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and great at building relationships. Someone who can solve problems and think creatively. We need a teammate who can work well with others, as well as manage their own tasks. They need to be inquisitive and responsive in their approach to dealing with requests.
The role will be based in central Dorchester, with potential for some remote-working.
You will need to be confident in using IT, especially Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Teams, and using the internet. You'll need to be a sensitive and confident communicator, who is happy to make lots of phone calls, and write lots of emails.
There is a great deal of creativity in the role, and the team is continually developing the quality of the service that we offer. We will welcome any positive ideas you may bring to this work.
